Join us on Saturday, October 31st at Noon SHARP to relax in nature, learn to identify fungi, and understand their breathtaking role in our lives - perfect for families, kids, and all ages.
We will be meeting by the parking lot off of Acorn Park Drive (Google Map Link here). This is record at 2-8 Acorn Drive on many map apps.
Weβre excited to welcome you to our fifth Cambridge mushroom walk so far this year, with this one at the Alewife Brook conservation land that is stewarded in-part by our partner Green Cambridge.
On this walk, our seasoned instructor with Bay Staters, James Davis, will teach people of all ages and stages how to identify plants and fungi, how mushrooms created our soil, laid down the "wood wide web" that connects all life in the forest, and technologies that will shape our collective futures with mushrooms too.
Please meet next to the parking lot at 12pm (noon) sharp!
No sign-up necessary if you want to bring more friends along
Though signing up means you can learn about our other events and get personalized calendar invites to eco-festivals near you in the future.
Notes for the Walk
All ages and stages are welcome - the material will be accessible + fun for all π
Companion animals (must be leashed!) are welcome if used to walking a bit off trail
We will gift a deluxe sticker and candy to everyone who comes in costume π¬
Please, however, wear close-toed shoes and dress warmly π§₯
Attendees and families can leave/adjust their participation anytime as needed πͺ
However, please arrive promptly at noon so you're not searching for us β°
This walk is complimentary courtesy of Bay Staters and James
If you would like to donate, we'll have hand-made rizoprint notebooks + grow kits πβπ«
Plenty of free parking at the meeting point (off Acorn Park Drive)
This event is rain or shine. Mushrooms love the rain!
We will also have mushroom grow kits available for donation!
Unfortunately, this hiking area is not super accessible for people who have trouble with walking but we will go above and beyond to accomodate you if you reach out in advance: team@baystatersnm.com
We cannot condone removing or disturbing fungi or plants because this is a common rule in many public areas.
Please feel free to sign up here for more updates and to be added to the google calendar event.
